Appointments

Appointment timing, and how often we need to see you.

Your initial consultation

We are always excited about meeting new patients. Your first appointment will consist of a clinical examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. We use x-rays and photos to best diagnose your case, and explain your case to you with visual aids. This important 50 minute visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. At this appointment we provide you with a written quote for any treatment proposed by Mark. This will include item numbers you can use to find out how much your private health fund rebate will be.

Reviews and recalls

Often, after your initial consultation, we will suggest that we review your child at a later date - depending on treatment timing for age, growth, and patient commitments (sport, music etc). We will schedule a recall appointment for a later date (3 - 18 months) to reassess the patient.  Often we will see the patient annually for some years until treatment is indicated. There is no fee for these appointments, they are included in your initial consultation fee if you attend between 9:00am - 3:00pm.

Comprehensive treatment

During braces treatment, we need 3 long appointments - banding (braces on), bracket repositioning, and deband (braces off). All checks and adjustments between these appointments are usually 20 minutes long, and every 6 - 8 weeks.

Invisalign appointments are not as long, however we still require to see you every 4 - 6 weeks to check your progress and issue your next aligners.

After treatment

Braces off? Orthodontic treatment is not over! We still like our patients to visit us when treatment is finished! We will see you 6 - 8 weeks after treatment completion, to check your teeth and retention look good. We take this opportunity to show you your Before and After photos to see how much your smile has changed! Generally we like to see you annually after this appointment.

Emergency appointments

Sometimes we need to see you in between your scheduled visits, if you have lost or broken an appliance, or are experiencing pain. There is no additional fee for these appointments, and we do our best to accommodate you as soon as possible. If the emergency is due to trauma such as a sport injury, a visit to your general dentist to check the health and vitality of your teeth is the first call to make, we can repair any broken appliances after that.
